Day 7 · Still missing

Gumbo

A 14-pound Siberian — orange tabby, indoor-only, very scared.

Slipped out from our Lawtonwood home on May 5, 2026. Indoor cats hide silently nearby. If you live in Magnolia, even a five-minute check of your yard could be what brings him home.

We're out tonight

We'll be searching the area where we originally found Gumbo's breakaway collar. Search runs roughly 10:00 PM – 11:00 PM. If you see flashlights or hear quiet movement near the trail edges, that's us.

About Gumbo

Orange/Brown Tabby Male 14 lbs Siberian Indoor-only

He's slipped out before — but never for this long. Gumbo has escaped outside on occasion, and we've always caught him within an hour or two. This time is different. A scared indoor cat that's been out for days behaves like a lost indoor cat, not a stray:

  • Will not come when called, even by his owner
  • Will not meow — he stays silent so predators don't find him
  • Hides motionless under decks, sheds, dense brush, or parked cars — often within 1–3 houses of where he was last seen

If you spot him, don't approach or chase. Just note the location and tell us — that's the most valuable thing you can do.

How to Help

If you live near Lawtonwood, please take five minutes to check these spots on your property — even if you've checked before. Gumbo may move at night.

  • Check under your deck or porch with a flashlight
  • Open the shed or garage and look in the dark corners
  • Check crawl space vents and any openings under the house
  • Part dense bushes at ground level — peek underneath
  • Check window wells, woodpiles, and tarp-covered things
  • Check under any parked cars, especially overnight
If you find him, call or text us immediately at 801-550-6183 or 801-361-1232. Please do not chase or reach for him — instead, sit with him until we can retrieve him. If you have a Churu treat, offering one may help keep him calm.

Thank you, neighbors
